If you were drawn to the rocking chair, you’re being called to take action. When we are in the learning process of attaining new information, the rocking chair serves as a comforting place of contemplation. In the chair we can reflect, integrate, and connect the dots between data points as we acquire them. But while Gemini wants to KNOW the answers, part of learning is also experiencing and embodying. What are you learning and why? Allow your “why” to serve as inspiration to share and collaborate with others.

We gain knowledge and wisdom from experiences and trial-and-error. In what areas of life have you fallen into such contentment with the dependable and predictable back-and-forth that you’ve grown apprehensive to leave the comfortability of your chair? The rocking chair resonates with the perpetual seeker and asks for true honesty with yourself. It can be hard to see how we’re stuck in a web of our own stories and storytelling until we choose to take the information and make different choices than last time.

When we repeat a story long enough, its roots begin to take hold and suffocate curiosity and open-mindedness, making us feel stagnant and stuck. The rocking chair is encouraging you to go outside of your comfort zone and open to curiosity of new experiences. Use the information you’ve acquired to expand into new viewpoints and perspectives. How might you challenge yourself in ways that make the rocking chair a restful reprieve from exploring and blazing a trail fueled by curiosity and desire?

If mongoose has called you, then clear, poignant communication is strong medicine for you this month. Communication is linked to your throat, but did you know the ears are an important anatomy of the throat chakra? Sometimes the best way to get your point across isn’t by sheer force, dynamics, or dominance. The most skillful communicators and leaders are able to adapt how they relay information based on the feedback they receive from their counterpart. Like the mongoose, who has at least 10 calls with various meanings, it may behoove you to use your keen mind to pay attention to the nuances in your correspondence with others. If you find yourself defending, convincing, or cajoling, choose to flow between skillful listening AND speaking.

It may be possible that you need to develop discernment when giving credence to others’ words and opinions. The mongoose is extremely adaptable in a variety of environments- from deserts, to tropical forests and marshes- but knows when to assert itself when necessary. Confidence and agility will serve you well when in combat with the venomous snakes in your life- whether that be actual king cobras, conflicts with others, or over-coming self-criticism and stubborn out-dated thought patterns.

It’s time to believe that others want to hear what you have to say…and to speak up to right the wrongs that have been going on for waaaay too long. The mongoose can fly solo when the time is right but also thrives in colonies up to 50. Trust that when you express from a heart-centered place with conviction and a focused mind, people will listen!

Honeybee & Flower: 6. The Lovers

The honeybee has attracted you to grow wisdom through your relationships this Gemini season. The traditional tarot card associated with Gemini is The Lovers. The Lovers brings attention to the heart chakra and reflects back our personal strengths and weaknesses through the reflection of others. The honeybee has a mutually beneficial symbiotic relationship with flowers, meaning they both benefit from each other. However, there are other types of symbiotic relationships:

Commensalism: One benefits and the other is unaffected
Parasitism: One benefits at the expense of another
Amensalism: One is harmed and the other is unaffected

The bee and flower ask you to hold up your own mirror and be truthful about your needs and wants. Are you getting what you need in your relationships? How might you communicate your needs? Are there some parasites in your life who are calling for you to use your stinger for once and establish better boundaries?

The honeybee knows better than anyone how busy life can be. She wants to remind you of the repercussions that can occur when we get caught up over-giving and over-doing for others, to the point that we can’t enjoy the honey of life when it presents itself. Utilize your strengths of organization and streamline your schedule to make room for smelling the roses. If you can’t give yourself what you need and want, then how can you expect that from others?

The bee shares a nest with its colony, but it also partakes in the freedom of flying solo. Without space in life, it’s easy to become unfocused, fragmented, and burnt out. And who has the energy to look deeper into their own reflection when just getting through the day is an accomplishment?! Like the flowers who attract their buzzy friends with sweet nectar and pollen, when you kick the un-symbiotic relationships out of your personal reflection every once in a while, you will make space to attract brighter, sweeter flowers.
